Osteopathy - conditions treated

Digestive disorders – often caused by a disruption to the spinal nerves to the intestine or adhesions from abdominal operations. Osteopathy can release these tensions, so improving gut function.

General ill health – a disruption in the workings of the musculoskeletal system can cause the functioning of the body to be compromised. This can present as feelings of general ill health. Osteopathy can improve general body function and the person may feel healthier.

Sciatic pain – the sciatic nerve can be irritated or compressed when something such as a disc bulge or soft tissue tension presses onto it. Gentle osteopathic manipulation can help relieve this compression and so reduce the sciatic nerve symptoms.

Ear infections – often caused by retained birth compression or trauma around the ear. Fluid drainage is impeded so infections never fully clear. Gentle cranial osteopathy can relieve these compressions and help the person recover from ear infections more effectively.

Behavioural difficulties in children – sometimes behavioural difficulties are caused by retained birth compression of the skull. This can cause undue pressure on the developing brain and sometimes the normal integration of the primitive reflexes (such as the fear paralysis reflex) is disturbed. Using cranial osteopathy and muscle testing, compression is released and the child’s behaviour can improve.
