Osteopathy - conditions treated
Sleeping difficulties in babies – following the compressive forces placed on the head and body during childbirth, the baby may feel tension within the head which can keep their nervous system on constant high alert. Using cranial osteopathy of specific gentle pressure, the various stresses can be released so the baby becomes more relaxed and may sleep better.
Colic in babies – following compression to the head and body during childbirth the nerve to the stomach may be irritated as it exits the base of the skull, and the diaphragm may be stressed. Cranial osteopathy can help release these tensions and so reduce the colic.
Feeding difficulties in babies – mechanical stresses to the baby’s head, face and throat created during childbirth may cause feeding to be problematic. Cranial osteopathy can help to gently release these tensions and so improve feeding.
Recurrent infections – disruption to normal spinal mechanics caused by trauma, accumulative stresses or compression to the head and body during childbirth often causes poor drainage from the ears and sinuses and a disruption to lymphatic drainage. By using the cranial approach tensions can be released effectively so that normal drainage and hence normal function can resume.
Fatigue – there are many reasons for fatigue ranging from low iron levels, adrenal exhaustion to fibromyalgia. Sometimes a contributory factor is tension held within the body. When this is so, cranial osteopathy can release these tensions and so help relieve fatigue.
