Osteopathy and what it treats.

Osteopathy is a distinctive and complete system of health care, which places special emphasis upon the importance of body mechanics in maintaining health.

It uses diagnostic skills to detect, and manipulative techniques to correct faulty structure and function. One technique, cranial osteopathy, uses subtle movements to release body tensions.

Conditions such as joint pain and stiffness, muscle aches, headaches, colic, recurrent infections, ear and sinus congestion can be treated safely and effectively at any age.

A full case history is taken at the first consultation followed by an examination. A diagnosis is made from the information gathered and a variety of manipulative techniques will be used to gently release stresses and strains in the body. The treatment aims to restore the state of balance and ease the movement and function of the spine.

Osteopathy treats the whole person not just conditions and thus a very wide variety of different problems can be helped.
